Friends

We live in a small estate – only 13 houses. The only traffic is residents coming and going, and there are lots of little kids all around the same-ish age. Our neighbours across the 'road' are good friends, and they have a 3-year old (Jack) and a 1-year old (Max). The boys have known Jack for all of their lives, and Max for all of his life. In the weekend, we took the boys out onto the 'road' so they could have a bit more space to ride their bikes. They both went straight over to Jack & Max's house and started knocking on the door! Jack & Max came straight to the door and all four of them just started giggling! Jack said, "Hi Tins (twins)! I'm gonna come and ride my bike, too! Hang on, Tins, I'm just gonna get my bike and my hat like you! I'll be back soon, Tins!" Me, Simon, and Jack & Max's Mum made a barrier of chairs across the road and watched the four boys play together. It was just so gorgeous to see, and they all obviously love playing together. Jack and Kason even played peek-a-boo with Kason's hat J

Progress!

As I posted last week, Kason had a week off from Occasional Care while Cohen went by himself. This week we got a spot for both boys again, so they both went as per usual. In the weeks before his week off, Kason had been clinging on to me before we even got inside the building, then had to be pried off me so we could leave. This week was a completely different story! He walked in holding my hand, then let it go, waved to me and went and sat down to draw a picture and stick stickers! When we left, there were no tears from him at all!!! Cohen cried for about 30 seconds, which is usual. I was so impressed with Kason! I guess seeing what we do while they aren't with us and seeing that we went back to pick up Cohen (I usually pick them up by myself while Simon catches the bus to work, but last week, we picked Cohen up early so Simon could come in with us) just made it click in his head that will be back for him. I don't know, but whatever it was, it made him much more confident to be left there which is great! It will be interesting to see if Cohen is like that too after he gets a turn with us, and if the no-tears lasts with Kase

Frustrated!

Argh!!! I am contemplating the possibility of maybe going back to work...although it's not quite as easy as just 'going back to work'. I haven't worked since we left New Zealand at the beginning of 2010 as I was pregnant with the boys and I didn't think it would be fair to an employer to only be there for a few months, maximum, and we didn't know if I'd have to go on bedrest, or if the boys would be early etc. Thankfully I didn't end up getting a job as I had 2-3 appointments at the hospital every week! So I don't have a job to 'go back' to!

Anyways, it means that I haven't had to use my CV at all while we've been here, and now I need it to apply for jobs. Really don't want to have to redo it, but I absolutely cannot find it anywhere. I have looked through my drawers, the sideboard, the storage cupboards and in every one of the boxes we have in the garage – most places I've checked twice. I've also looked everywhere on my computer, including three email accounts and the seek.co.nz website. Gone. My only chance of finding it, is that my Mum may possibly have an electronic copy on her home computer (she's already checked her work one!). But that won't have my hard copy reference letters. I'll have to get people to write them again.

So frustrated right now!!! I just don't know where else I can possibly look.

The Best Weekend!

We had such an awesome long weekend! Simon was supposed to work on Saturday, but it was my birthday (27!!) and he had worked the precious two weekends in a row, so he took the day off J The weather was absolutely stunning, so we started off the day by checking out the Willunga Markets. We haven't been before as Simon is usually working when it is on, and it was good. There wasn't as much there as I was expecting, but what was there was really cool. There was one stall in particular which had amazing murals. They were wood carvings with aluminium pressed into them. They were just incredible...I wish we had a spare $2400 to buy one!!!

From there we took the boys to feed the ducks down by the river. But there weren't any ducks there...do ducks migrate??! Seriously, we saw one (ONE!) duck. Usually there are 50 or so! There were plenty of fish, though, that were happy enough to eat our bread. Cohen was happy enough to eat the bread too! The fish kept leaping out of the water and fighting each other for the bits of bread which kept making Cohen and Kason laugh, so at least they still enjoyed it even with the lack of ducks!

We zipped back home for lunch and so the boys could have their nap...which neither of them were particularly interested in, so we all played outside in the sandpit and drew on the blackboard instead – lots of fun! Kason and Cohen had a quick bath and we got them dressed up and we drove into the city for our first dinner out as a family. We went in early, so it was normal dinner time for the boys and so we wouldn't disrupt too many other diners! They did well, although they didn't want to sit in their highchairs, or on our laps. They just wanted to explore, but luckily they were too shy to go far away from us.

Before we went home, we had to check out The Garden of Unearthly Delights. It's a part of the Adelaide Fringe Festival. Simon went last year with some people from his work, but I didn't get a chance to go, so we figured we may as well have a look while we were in the city. Kason wanted nothing more than to go on the Ferris wheel! He kept asking and asking to go on it, and he wouldn't stop watching it. We didn't take him on it though...he freaks out on fast elevators, so I don't think he would like being on a fast Ferris wheel!!! I did promise him, though, that next time we are somewhere where there is a Ferris wheel, I'll take him on it. The whole rest of the time walking around the Garden, he kept wanting to go back to the Ferris wheel! We did take them on the carousel, though, which they loved J

Both boys were sound asleep when we got home, so Simon and I watched a DVD I've been wanting to see for a while J

Awesome birthday!!

Sunday we just chilled out at home for a bit and then went out to spend some of my birthday money! I got some new jeans, a t-shirt, some ballet flats, a light jumper and a long-sleeved tee – stoked! There was a totally awesome jacket I heaps wanted to get too, but no shops in Adelaide had it in my size!!

Yesterday (Monday) was much the same, but minus the shopping. We live in a little cul-de-sac which isn't actually a road (hard to explain!), so Kason and Cohen took their little bikes out there and were riding them around. The little boy across the drive/road from us heard them, so he came out too. These three boys just adore each other, they have known each other since the day Cohen and Kason came home from the hospital and they've been going to playgroup together since then, and because we're neighbours, they see each other often J He then came over and played in the sandpit with the boys for a while. They all had a blast together!
After the boys' nap, we went down for a walk along the beach which was lovely. I love that our boys enjoy the beach so much, and that they aren't afraid of the water. They love just standing at the edge of the water and letting the little waves crash into their legs
J Kason likes to find little rocks to throw into the waves – he likes it even more when they are washed back up!

So that was our weekend! Just three days of hanging out together, it was so great! Oh, and every morning when we go in to get the boys up, Cohen asks for his Wiggles shoes. And every day, without fail, they want to wear their Wiggles shoes. I think they still love them.

WIGGLES!

On the way to Toddler Time at the library this morning, we stopped in at Target to buy some shoes for the boys that I had seen in the catalogue. They were super cute, but when we found them in the store, they were next to some other shoes...shoes with The Wiggles on them. Of course Kason and Cohen spotted them straight away. They took them off the racks and would. Not. Let. Them. Go. At all. They hugged a pair each tight to their chests, and there was no way we could get the shoes we were planning on getting. Even when we were trying to pry the Wiggles shoes off them to swap them for the right sizes, we got tears! Kase didn't even want to give his pair to the guy at the checkout. After we got home and I cut the labels off, they both started carrying around the Wiggles tag that was on them. They even gave the tags several turns on the slide! I'm starting to think that maybe they just wanted the tags!!! We did go out again this afternoon though, and they wore their new shoes. Kason loved that he could look at the Wiggles on his feet in the car and he loved showing everyone at Twins Group this afternoon!

Time Apart

Kason and Cohen usually go to Occasional Care on Wednesday mornings. It's an absolute God-send for me as it's the only 'break' I get seeing as we don't have any family here. Anyways, today we could only get one spot. We book about 2 weeks in advance usually, so we knew before today, and to be honest, I had mixed feelings about leaving only one boy there. I know they love it there, and although they cry when we drop them off, it's only for a minute or less and then they get on with having fun! Kason has been so clingy to me lately, and more upset when we leave him at Occasional Care, that I decided that it would be best to have Cohen there by himself today, and Simon and I would spend the morning with Kason.

Cohen had a great time at Occasional Care, although I hated leaving him there by himself! He was perfectly fine there without Kason, and maybe even a little more independent – he usually asks for help to get his snack out of his bag at snack time, but today he unzipped his bag and got his banana and drink out by himself, and took it over to the table and sat down J My little boy is growing up!! We picked him up a little early, and he didn't want to go home yet! He peeked out from behind the door and then closed it and ran away!

Simon and I took Kase on a mission to the supermarket, which he loved – he ran around trying to pull everything off the shelves, especially the tins! It was a novelty for him because we usually get our groceries online, and because we only got a couple of things today, we let him 'walk' rather than be strapped into the stroller or the trolley.
From there we headed to the mall to have morning tea at a little cafe and so he could have a play on the little playground. He did well, but he seemed to miss Cohen. He wasn't quite himself. He would be running around, then stop and look around with a puzzled look on his face.

Anyways, I think it went well for both of them. Next time we can only get one spot, I won't hesitate to take Kason in for a morning without Cohen, and so we can spend some time with Cohen J
